Peace and blessings to you all for sharing in our success. As founder, I, Brandon Plain am delighted to share with you the projects we have completed and are currently working on. None of these projects would even be possible if it weren't for the dedication, love and support we have received from viewers and donors like yourself. I thank you on behalf of everyone at AFAINT as well as the people of Kenya! Look below to see what YOU have accomplished!
VCT (VOLUNTEER COUNSELING & TESTING CENTER)
AFAINT has received all the donations to install a water tank for the Kendowa School for the Deaf School in Kericho, Kenya (Central Kenya). There are approximately 90 children that attend this school and all of them except for the head master is deaf. These children face many difficulties including deafness such as social stigma because many of them are HIV+ or come from HIV+ families. They were subject to drinking from a dirty well in which
many different elements washed into their water supply such as animal waste. The actual school is consisted of a few classrooms where some are partitioned off with a sheet to separate the different grades. We are happy to say that we were able to give them a 7,000 liter water tank that will supply them with water throughout the dry season!
Tamani Africa and AFAINT has completed the task of  building a Volunteer Counseling and Testing Center in Kendu Bay, Kenya! It took approximately 11 months to complete the fundraising and building for the project. We would like to thank THE AIDS FUND for their support as well!

something must be done. They put their heads together with a fellow friend, William Oloo Oyoko and decided to pay off the medical debts and build this family a brand new house!
The Odeema House Project was a  project dear to our founder. Upon his visit to Kendu Bay in 07' he was asked to visit a family that has experienced tragedy, after tragedy. One of the workers who had helped build the VCT had 3 children of his own and had lost all of his siblings to AIDS. His siblings left him with 7 more children and 4,000 shillings worth of medical debt. The father of this family is a man by the name of ODEEMA whose mud home had recently collapsed. Luckily, no one was hurt. Brandon Plain and Joseph Sanders decided

UPDATED!
Why we built the VCT
  • A 30% HIV rate in the area.
  • HIV drugs arrived into the area, which led to an increase in the demand for VCT services.
  • There was only one room available for counseling. People walked for hours and had to wait in long lines.
  • 2 counselors worked for 9 months without pay to keep the previous VCT running.

by poverty and HIV/AIDS for decades. The "Art for Water Campaign 2" will take only the founders (Brandon Plains) facebook friends donations, and he will match dollar for dollar every donation given. For more info...

NYAHERA FEEDING PROGRAM
The Nyahera Preschool Feeding Program is our latest  project here at AFAINT. Nyahera Preschool sits on the beautiful Lake Victoria in Kenya and educates approximately 75 children. AFAINT will provide a warm lunch for these children for the entire school year of 2010 and hopefully longer with your support. Many of these  children are HIV orphans and are cared for by their grandparents who are too old or sick to work. We are pleased and proud to be a beacon of support to help these children continue to grow and live. AFAINT also suppiles the salary for Nyahera's 3 teachers as well the cook and security gaurd. We have taken a comprehensive approach to continuing education and support to this early childhood educational center.
AFAINT has certified HIV educators that teach about the science and epidemiology of HIV/AIDS. We are available to any institution for education and awareness materials. Currently we are teaching HIV 101 at the Newport News City Jail every Wednesday as well as teaching in detention centers and to other non-profit organizations. If you would like an educator to teach a class at your institution, school, or work place please contact Brandon Plain at 757-359-9480 or at theadvocate@afaint.org.
