"WORLDS AIDS DAY"
Reflecting on 25 years of HIV, AFAINT Founder and poet, Brandon Plain and Tiffany Hartman performed at Eastern Virginia Medical School. They combined the arts of soul singing and spoken word poetry to motivate the staff, Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company, and other non-profit organization officials. The event was a complete success and they received a donation from the Nurse's Association of AIDS CARE. Later that same evening, Brandon Plain performed for over 350 people at their banquet to reflect on 25 years of HIV work.
AFAINT events are one of our opportunities to display our talents and arts at social gatherings where people come together to support a common cause. At these events you will encounter art in every aspect as well as educational seminars from everyone from community leaders to pharmaceutical companies. We also work in collaboration with other organizations to host their events. We use these events for advocacy promotion or to fundraise for our current projects. This page includes AFAINT events from the genesis of the organization. If you would like to hear about AFAINT upcoming events refer to the AFAINT news page!
"ART FOR WATER" CAMPAIGN 3/2007

The funds were raised by using poetry and singing along with raffle prizes and monetary donations. It was held at Fairgrounds Coffee Shop in the Ghent section of Norfolk, VA in March of 2007. The event was a success and the children of the Kedowa School now have safe drinking water collected by the water tank.

2nd Annual "ART FOR WATER" Event
AFAINT'S 1st annual "Art for Food" art exhibit, food drive and charity event was held at Scotty Quixx in Norfolk, VA on June 5th, 2010. The purpose of this benefit was to raise money to fight hunger and HIV in the U.S. as well as Kenya, where AFAINT has ben working vigorously since 2006. We featured 12 local painters, sculptors, photographers and musicians that displayed and performed their art, giving a percentage of their sales to AFAINT's fundraising efforts. Our artists were able to sell 11 pieces of art, most of whom had never displayed or sold their art before. AFAINT Founder, Brandon Plain performed, in essay format, "The Perfect Storm," educating us on the inevitable socio-economic rise of HIV in America. Finally, AFAINT, in collaboration with The AIDS Fund and the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia, were able to raise over $2,000 and over 500 lbs. of food for the Foodbank. With beautiful art, live music, great food and great people, "Art for Food" was a total success and we thank all who came out to join us. AFAINT in collaboration with Tiffany Hartman from HIV University, held the 2nd annual "Art For Food" benefit. This benefit featured singer, Tiffany Hartman, spoken word poets Venus and Andre Love of TWP (Teens With a Purpose), and spoken word poet and AFAINT founder, Brandon Plain. This event raised approximately $2,000 which was enough money to build AFAINT's 2nd water tank in Kenya. This water tank is attached to a local church on a compound (village) in Kendu Bay, Kenya. This water tank holds 10,000 liters of water and supplies clean drinking, cooking, and bathing water for hundreds of impoverished people of Kendu Bay! To buy, build and set this tank on a concrete slab costs $1,200. AFAINT also donated $800 to The AIDS Fund to help support HIV in Hampton Roads, VA. AFAINT plans to build water tanks on every school yard in Kendu Bay as well as at local health clinics.
